Pacific research in Aotearoa New Zealand: An Introduction’ by Tim Baice and Dr Tanya Wendt Samu. 

‘Research methods for education and the social disciplines in Aotearoa New Zealand’ (2023).

Chapter 9 presents an introduction to Pacific research. It is broken into six sections and driven by six key questions:

  • Section 1: Who are Pacific peoples and communities? 
  • Section 2: What is Pacific research? 
  • Section 3: How did Pacific research as a field develop? 
  • Section 4: What are Pacific research methodologies/methods (PRMs)?
  • Section 5: What are the key features and ongoing considerations
    required when undertaking Pacific research?
  • Section 6: What are some useful resources for further reading?

Pacific research has emerged and evolved over the past 50 years as a distinctive field of research (Baice & Samu, 2023, p.134).
